We are constantly expanding our collection of cars at San Diego Prestige to meet the needs of our clients, and are pleased to announce the newest addition to our rental fleet: the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster! We love Aston Martins at San Diego Prestige because they are truly unique cars; no other sports car manufacturer so seamlessly combines understated and sophisticated styling, uncompromising luxury and world-class performance into one package as Aston Martin.
If you have always found Ferraris and Lamborghinis to be a bit too extroverted and perhaps find Porsches and Corvettes to be a bit too pedestrian, then an Aston Martin is for you! The V8 Vantage Roadster is a stunning car that you can drive on the racetrack in the afternoon and to a Black Tie event in the evening, which is exactly why we love it. Mr. Bond, your car is ready!
Of course, the Bond villains always had some fancy cars themselves, which is why we also offer the new Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG. This beast of a car has the precision of a Swiss watch and the power of a sledgehammer, and is a natural rival to the Aston Martin Vantage. The two are so closely matched in fact that they were recently pitted against each other in a Road & Track test. Find out for yourself which one is better!
Not more than six months ago, BMW introduced the ultimate version of the all-new E92 BMW M3: the GTS. With a built-in rollcage, upgraded dampers and brakes, and a reworked 4.4 liter V8 engine good for 450 horsepower, the svelte M3 GTS – which weighed some 400 lbs less than the standard model – was a focused, track ready street car that was capable of world-class performance. Built in the vein of cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Ferrari Challenge Stradale, the M3 GTS was designed solely with performance in mind, and was intended for BMW’s most demanding, most enthusiastic customers.
Now it would appear that an even lighter and faster version may be on the way called the GTS-R. As Porsche has recently done with the introduction of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, BMW is considering upgrading the GTS to improve upon its already brilliant performance. We for one are all for such a car of course; we are enormous fans of the current E92 BMW M3 and have always appreciated track-ready cars like the Ferrari F430 Scuderia and Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG. Unfortunately, even is the GTS-R does come to fruition, we probably won’t be able to lay our hands on it anytime soon, as they are sure to get scooped up by die hard BMW fans!
Even if you can’t get behind the wheel of the M3 GTS, you can still experience the ultimate driving machine firsthand: our BMW rental fleet features the BMW M6 convertible as well as the BMW X5. Needless to say, we are confident that you will find a car to your liking!
We are pleased to announce one of the newest arrivals to our rental fleet of exotics and sports cars: the Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG rental! We offer a wide range of cars at San Diego Prestige to meet the needs of our clients, from track-ready sports cars like the Ferrari F430 to luxury sedans like the Rolls Royce Phantom; our Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG rental is for individuals who want to experience a little of both worlds. With a 518 horsepower V8 engine and advanced 7-speed automatic transmission, the SL63 AMG is capable of tremendous speed on the road or on the race track, yet still features a compliant suspension and luxury cockpit that has been built with the driver’s comfort in mind. We would be hard pressed to think of another car that can so effortlessly and so comfortably transport two individuals at high speed! As Motor Trend magazine stated, “Even in basic form, the hardtop convertible is a most capable sports car that loses none of its appeal when subjected to the stresses of the track. This is a quality shared by just a few other cars and assures the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG its proper place at the head of a long lineage of exceptional roadsters.” It goes without saying that our new Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG rental is in a class of its own!
If you are looking to attend a Black Tie event in style or are coming to Southern California on a business trip or on vacation with your spouse, we think you’ll find the Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG offers everything that you could need in one nice package. With sophisticated styling and a leather-wrapped interior, you can entertain business associates or attend a formal dinner, yet the retractable hard top and race-spec engine allow you to let your hair out – figuratively and literally – on a weekend jaunt up the Pacific coast! With spring coming to a close and summer around the corner, it’s time to put the top down! We love convertibles at San Diego Prestige because they allow the driver to feel more connected with both the car and the outside world. Putting the top down not only allows you to soak up the sun and feel the wind through your hair; it also lets you have a closer connection with your car. Your senses are heightened when the top is down on a convertible: the engine exhaust note is louder, the squeal of the brakes feels more connected to your foot, and the sense of speed is vividly illustrated by the scenery rushing past the open cabin. Anyone who has driven a convertible knows that there is no other experience quite like it. Modern cars have a way of sheltering us from the outside world, and for many have made driving an arduous process. We can assure you that one day with a convertible rental from our fleet will remind you that driving can be fun!
If you are interested in a convertible rental, we have a selection of some of the world’s finest on-hand. We can’t help but think that a Chrysler Sebring convertible rental is such a disservice when you can rent a car like the Ferrari F430 Spyder or Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder instead! In addition to the Gallardo and F430, we also offer Ferrari’s newest convertible, the Ferrari California, and the beautiful Spyker C8 convertible (if you want to turn heads, there is no better car for the job then the Spyker!). If you are a Porschephile, we are pleased to offer both the 911 Cabriolet and the popular Porsche Boxster. We have not forgotten that we live in Southern California at San Diego Prestige, and we think that our selection of convertible rentals shows that! Ditch the sedan this summer, even if only for a day, and feel what it’s like to drive one of the world’s finest convertibles! You will not regret it!
In preparation for the upcoming 24 Hours of Nurburgring endurance race, which is taking place at the famous Bavarian racetrack between May 15-16, 2010, Porsche and Williams teamed up to test the brand-new Porsche 911 GT3RS Hybrid race car. As the Williams race team was responsible for the development of the car’s flywheel generator, current Williams F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg had the honors of piloting the revolutionary race car around the 14 mile track. And from the looks of the test, the car has great pace and is likely to be in competitive form in two weeks time!
The Porsche GT3RS Hybrid system will be familiar to fans of Formula 1, as it is similar to the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) technology that was used during the 2009 season. When the brakes are activated, a pair of electric motors on the front drive shafts charges an electric flywheel generator. Once the charging process is complete (which takes only a couple applications of the brakes), the driver can opt to engage the electric motors and receive an extra 160 horsepower for 6-8 seconds, which is ideal for overtaking or preventing a driver from making a pass out of a slow corner. The system is a true “power on demand” technology that takes advantage of mechanical energy that would otherwise be wasted, and is likely the future of racing! At San Diego Prestige, we are big fans of Stuttgart’s most famous automobile manufacturer, which is why we offer a diverse fleet of Porsche rental options. If you are interested in driving a Porsche, we would be happy to help you get behind the seat of a Porsche 911, Boxster or Cayenne.
The Nurburgring Nordschleife has long been a proving ground for automobile manufacturers, with companies vying for the fasted production car lap record for bragging rights. Not too long ago, a sub- 8 minute lap was all it took to be King of the Hill, but that has all changed now. Though the merits of Ferrari’s claim to the 599XX being a “production car” may be debatable, the performance is not! Quite simply, the performance of the Ferrari 599XX is incredible!
Last week, Ferrari test driver Raffaele De Simone piloted the monster around the “Green Hell” - all 14 miles and 150 plus turns - in just 6 minutes, 58 seconds! The sub 7- minute lap closes in on what old Group C cars ran in the 1980s and is faster than many racecars run today at the annual 24 Hour race! Needless to say, Ferrari has put its flag in the ground and claimed the Nurburgring for itself, and it will probably be awhile before another manufacturer can come close to the lap time set by the 599XX! And even if it really isn’t a “production car” per se, who cares to be honest! The car is mind blowing!
If you would like to get your hands on the street legal version of the Ferrari 599XX, we offer a variety of Ferrari models in our rental fleet! Please refrain from trying to set any lap records though while driving our cars; Southern California has some great roads, but they are best enjoyed at legal speeds!
